Flutes (Khrystina Absent)

What we did
  • Reviewed Fingering for Bb, C and D; whole note/rest rhythm (line 1, 2, 4 on page 6 of book)
  • Discovered that the D to C fingering is difficult so we developed strategies to achieve our goals
  • Looked at Line 7

What to do for next lesson
  • Coordinate changing from D to C (fingerings and pitch); This is line 3 on page 6
  • Practice meeting proficiency of performance targets on line 7

Looking Ahead
  • Sustaining 8 count notes
  • Discovering how to read and execute ties and slurs
  • Reading, counting and playing music with half note/rest and quarter note/rest
  • Articulating with a legato tonguing style.


Trumpet
What we did
  • Camden forgot instrument; Kaylee: I will try to attain a CCS instrument for her.
    • Discovered the difference between a learning target and a performance target

  • Introduced whole note rhythms in line 16
  • Learned how to execute line 13 as a duet (both parts at the same time)

What we did
  • Isaiah had instrument today; Brea: I will trying to attain a CCS instrument for her

  • Execution points
    • Establish a firmer embouchure by gripping more with the teeth
    • Allow the embouchure muscles to work for you by establishing better posture (arm off lap) and firming up embouchure muscles
